Shared Verified: Misinformation vs Disinformation

We hear the terms “fake news,” “disinformation,” and “misinformation” used a lot. But what is the difference? In this video, from Verified collaborator PLUC, Bharat Nayak explains the terminology and why the distinction is important. Bharat is Founding Editor of The Logical Indian, an independent digital news platform in India.

Bharat also gives us 3 tips to remember as we read the news: to use our critical thinking skills, be aware of our own bias and check our emotions. If our emotions are changing as we read information, this should be a red flag that we should pause and take care before we share.

Share Bharat’s video today so that people in your network can better understand the issues around misinformation and how we can all help to stop it spreading.
