Ganesh Utsav is a Hindu festival widely celebrated across India. In Maharashtra state, home to Mumbai which has the highest number of COVID-19 cases of any Indian city, temples create pandals — temporary set ups — for the duration of this festival. These usually attract around 1.5 million people a day, but the biggest gatherings take place on the last day, when people bring Ganesh idols and immerse them in water.
