Developing Academically Rigorous Case Studies in Disaster Response & Recovery Environments Webinar, Apr 10

On February 6-7, 2018 seventeen emergency management academic and practitioner stakeholders met concurrently in two locations: The Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL and, the Field Operations Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The group was convened to discuss and develop a case study development process that will be tested and implemented in disaster response and recovery environments to improve performance and inform work to be done in prevention, preparedness, and mitigation phases. These cases will be used for training, workforce development, senior-leader training and education of the next generation emergency managers. They may also inform and influence the development and revision of policy and doctrine.

This webinar will present the outcome of this focus group and provide an opportunity for the broader community to offer comments and feedback.  The objectives for this webinar include:

  • Sharing the draft recommended FEMA Case Study Development Process
  • Discussing additional considerations for feedback, refinement, collaboration and implementation
  • Expanding awareness and opportunities to participate in the case study development process
