Since 2014, the emerging academic discipline of emergency management has had its very own research conference. Thanks to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Higher Education Program scholars were given a room at the Emergency Management Institute for one day each of the last three years–and in that room was held each of the first three conferences.
The first three iterations allowed the community to get experience offering a conference, build interest in participation, and build infrastructure to support coordinating it. And, a planning committee comprised emergency management program faculty at Arkansas Tech University, Jacksonville State University, North Dakota State University, and Oklahoma State University is collaborating currently to coordinate the 4th iteration in a bigger, better, more accessible way! The committee hopes you will save the date for the conference and spread the word.
