The FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) team on Nov. 21 announced the launch of its External Stakeholder Working Group (ESWG) and is seeking applicants from local or county jurisdictions for membership. Charged with providing a means for increased engagement and transparency between FEMA staff and external stakeholders, the ESWG will offer non-federal mitigation stakeholders the opportunity to share their perspectives on HMA priorities, issues, and program resources, and to provide input on communication strategies for HMA programs. HMA programs provide pre- and post-disaster funding to implement mitigation actions in communities across the United States. The ESWG will meet four times annually, including two virtual meetings and two in-person meetings with travel costs provided by FEMA. Those interested in being selected for the work group should complete the application, which includes further details about the ESWG, and submit it by email to FEMA-HMA-GRANTS-POLICY@fema.dhs.gov by Nov. 29, 2016.
